SKS
receives Grameen Foundation USA's Excellence Award
Hyderabad - SKS wins Grameen
Foundation USA's (GFUSA,
www.gfusa.org) Excellence Award for
bringing industry-leading financial services to poor families in
India. The award recognizes SKS's overall outreach to the poorest of
the poor, exceptional operational standards and processes, and
industry-leading innovation and technology.
The award was presented to SKS clients by Julie Peachey, Regional
Director - Asia Programs, GFUSA, during a ceremony in Dallas, Texas
as well as in Hyderabad, India a week later. “SKS Microfinance was
chosen for the award considering its financial performance and its
management information system (MIS) that it developed to manage
small transactions,” said Julie Peachey, Grameen Foundation, USA.
SKS Microfinance has been associated with the Grameen Foundation
since 2002 and has so far received $75,000 for the development of
its automated management system (MIS), said Vikram Akula, founder
and CEO, SKS Microfinance Private Limited. “The Grameen Foundation
will also provide access to a Rs 5-crore guarantee fund that will
enable us to access funds up to Rs 50 crore from commercial banks,”
Akula said. |
