HR Manager

Job Title: HR Manager            Location: Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh             Reports To: VP of HR

SKS currently has over a Rs.100 crores portfolio and 230,000 clients spread across 85 branches with more than 1,000 staff in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh and will be launching operations in 5 more states of India this year in pursuit of its goal to reach 700,000 clients by March 2007.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing HR support to a population of up to 600 employees, including helping develop and implement organization-wide HR initiatives. (S)he partners with internal clients (managers) on human resources and related issues. Using a collaborative approach, the HR Manager provides tactical and strategic consultation and recommendations across a wide range of human resource issues including recruitment and retention, training and development, performance management and compensation, and employee relations. Additionally, this person ensures that all HR policies are understood and followed within his / her internal client base.

Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Retention: Collaborate with Recruitment Manager and business managers to conceptualize, develop, promote and implement recruitment and staffing programs that enhance talent acquisition capabilities in assigned employee base. Work with management to define talent/staffing needs. Interview and assist in selection of candidates for key positions within assigned internal employee base. Implement and oversee new staff orientation of all employees within designated employee base.

Training and Development: Collaborate with Training Manager and business managers to ensure assigned employee base is receiving proper training and development at all levels. Model effective communication, feedback and other soft skills and regularly coach / train internal clients on these and other skills as needed. Support management in developing and implementing Succession Planning with key staff.

Performance Management and Compensation: Coordinate performance appraisal process for internal client base, ensuring timely and effective completion of appraisals. Facilitate annual compensation normalization process for internal client base. Coach managers in applying performance management process consistently and effectively.

Employee Relations: Oversee employee relations and grievance management. Ensure fair and equitable application of HR policies and processes within client base. Help develop and implement employee relations programs to foster a positive work environment and promote a high level of employee morale, productivity and engagement. Provide feedback, coaching and resources to managers and employees to ensure maximum productivity and engagement. Provide support in developing and implementing internal communication strategies and processes for assigned employee base


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Passionate commitment to SKS�s mission
  • Good analytic skills, judgment and ability to make independent decisions informed by both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to work with minimal direction. Self-starter
  • Good interpersonal, relationship management, customer service, and rapport building skills, with ability to coach managers and employees at various levels
  • Good understanding of leadership and people management principles, with ability to coach managers
  • Ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate, and proactively resolve problems
  • Demonstrated potential to take initiative in helping the business build a growing organization
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Internet
  • Proficiency or ability to quickly gain proficiency in SKS software applications
  • Good understanding of national and state labor laws
  • Good understanding of HR principles and processes
  • Excellent reading and writing skills in English and Hindi required. Good knowledge of regional languages is strongly preferred
  • Able and willing to travel extensively, including to remote rural areas
     
Required Education and Experience:
  • Post-graduate degree or equivalent experience required, specialization in Human Resources is strongly preferred
  • One year of experience required, experience in HR strongly preferred
