Hyderabad, May 15, 2008: SKS Microfinance, India's largest and fastest growing microfinance institution has become the first MFI in the world to get ISO certification for its 200-plus strong 'Internal Audit Department'.  The ISO 9001:2000 certification has been awarded by leading certifying body RINA.

The validity of this certificate will be till May 2011, depending on annual /bi-annual audits and a complete review, every three years, of the management system.

Sharing details about this distinction, Mr. M.R Rao, COO, SKS Microfinance said, "SKS conducts rigorous audits every month across its 800 plus offices across the country.  An ISO certification is a distinction that reinforces our commitment to deliver transparency and accountability."

ISO Certification represents an international consensus on good management practices with the aim of ensuring that the organization can deliver the product or services that meet the client's quality requirements. These good practices have been distilled into a set of standardized requirements for a quality management system, regardless of what your organization does, its size, or whether it's in the private, or public sector.
