November 05, 2005 SKS cited in recent The Economist survey on microfinance, "The hidden wealth of the poor", by Tom Easton

Hyderabad
SKS is prominently featured in new The Economist survey on global microfinance and the future of the industry. Spanning six articles and ten pages, New York Bureau Chief, Tom Easton, covers everything from the basics of microfinance to capital markets and securitization.

Tom spent a day in the field with SKS back in September and highlights the organization throughout the survey. The first article opens with an image of a SKS center meeting and describes in detail some of SKS advanced technology infrastructure and innovations, SKS, a fast-growing microfinance institution in India, has had to build back-office systems that can work on two hours of power a day; it closely monitors voltage when its computers are running and keeps a diesel generator on hand.
