November 14, 2005  SKS receives Grameen Foundation USA's Excellence Award

Hyderabad - SKS wins Grameen Foundation USA's (GFUSA, www.gfusa.org) Excellence Award for bringing industry-leading financial services to poor families in India. The award recognizes SKS's overall outreach to the poorest of the poor, exceptional operational standards and processes, and industry-leading innovation and technology.

The award was presented to SKS clients by Julie Peachey, Regional Director - Asia Programs, GFUSA, during a ceremony in Dallas, Texas as well as in Hyderabad, India a week later. �SKS Microfinance was chosen for the award considering its financial performance and its management information system (MIS) that it developed to manage small transactions,� said Julie Peachey, Grameen Foundation, USA. SKS Microfinance has been associated with the Grameen Foundation since 2002 and has so far received $75,000 for the development of its automated management system (MIS), said Vikram Akula, founder and CEO, SKS Microfinance Private Limited. �The Grameen Foundation will also provide access to a Rs 5-crore guarantee fund that will enable us to access funds up to Rs 50 crore from commercial banks,� Akula said.
