SKS Continues Ambitious Growth Plans, Expands Operations from 5
to 11 States
|
Hyderabad, India In line with
its ambitious growth plans, SKS Microfinance launched expansion into
five northern states: Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal,
Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, bringing the total of operational states
to eleven.
On July 15th, twenty-eight Area Manager Trainees from three top
rural management schools, IRMA, IIFM, XIMB, completed a 2-month
training program and become Area Managers. They are now responsible
for driving growth in existing and new areas. This marks the first
time SKS has launched operations in the North, a region with various
political and social challenges, little microfinance presence, and a
tremendous need for financial services. By embarking on this plan,
SKS demonstrates its commitment to serving the poorest of the poor
in India.
Lead Manager of Member Services, Lokesh Kumar Singh, remarked, We
are eager to deepen our commitment to providing financial services
to the poor throughout India. This expansion is demonstrative of
both the faith in our existing institutions, as well as in the
capabilities of our new area managers, who have been instilled the
challenging responsibility of leading operations in their respective
areas. I am fully confident that they and SKS will succeed.
Prior to July 15th, SKS operations consisted in Andhra Pradesh,
Karnataka, Maharasthra, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa.
