October 29, 2005 SKS hosts microfinance accelerator, Unitus for their annual Partner Expedition

Hyderabad - Microfinance accelerator and SKS investor, Unitus (www.unitus.com), lead a partner expedition of 30 people to SKS this week. As part of a four day exposure tour for Unitus donors and investors, participants saw first hand how SKS works to alleviate poverty in rural India - observing center meetings, group formation and training sessions and client activities. It was the largest expedition Unitus has ever lead and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Below you can see comments from some of the participants and further information with images can be found here, http://blog.unitus.com/?cat=2

This was our first time to India and everything was planned out, communicated proactively and organized to maximize our learning experience. One of the most powerful moments was when we asked how many women were sending their children to school. All of their hands went up. This compared with < 30% of them who had gone to school and most for only a few years. We saw how microfinance was empowering the next generation to live in a different world. Dave Richards, Fast Forward Consulting Services, Seattle, Wash., USA

I am inspired by the examples of the poor who are working so hard to help their families and also by those who have dedicated so much to helping them. I met many people who serve as great examples to me and have inspired me to want to do more. Gary Lee, Director, White Pass Capital, Calgary, Canada
