SKS' microfinance program has made remarkable strides in 1999-2001.
We exceeded each of our growth targets, a 2240% increase in
membership, a 3420% increase in income-generating loans, and
a 1630% increase in members' savings.
We attribute this success to the
peer-lending model and to our well-trained and dedicated field
staff, who exercise the right degree of compassion and control.
SKS staff go beyond formulaic thinking to make sure that our
members use SKS services in a way that enables them to earn
profits, build assets, and lift themselves out of poverty.
